Reverse-grip lat pulldown

Animated demonstration of Reverse-grip lat pulldown

How to do this exercise

  1. Step 1: Adjust the seat and thigh supports so that you are well positioned with your feet flat on the ground.
  2. Step 2: Grip the bar with a supinated (palms facing you), shoulder-width or slightly narrower grip.
  3. Step 3: Straighten your torso, extend your chest and lower your shoulders (scapular depression) before pulling.
  4. Step 4: Initiate the movement by pulling the elbows down and slightly back, keeping the forearms aligned with the trajectory.
  5. Step 5: Bring the bar toward your upper chest without leaning back excessively.
  6. Step 6: Strongly contract your lats and biceps at the bottom of the movement during a short break.
  7. Step 7: Slowly raise the bar while controlling the eccentric phase, allowing the arms to fully extend while keeping the shoulders stable.
  8. Step 8: Repeat the movement with a controlled tempo and without using momentum.
