How to do this exercise
- Step:1 Stand with your feet significantly wider than shoulder-width apart (wide stance).
- Step:2 Point your toes outward at about a 45-degree angle.
- Step:3 If you are using a weight (dumbbell or kettlebell), hold it between your legs with your arms extended downward.
- Step:4 Inhale and lower yourself, pushing your hips back and actively opening your knees so they follow the direction of your toes.
- Step:5 Lower yourself until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor, keeping your torso as straight as possible.
- Step:6 Exhale as you push through your heels to return to the starting position, intentionally contracting your adductors and glutes at the top of the movement.
- Step:7 Keep your back flat and prevent your knees from rolling inward as you come up.
